Objectives

In this module, we will discuss chronic abdominal pain, including its most likely diagnosis, functional gastrointestinal disease. You will learn about high-risk features that will lower your threshold for additional investigations; these include pallor, jaundice, adenopathy, and palpable mass, to name a few. You will also learn about historical and physical features of a patient’s presentation that warrant more intensive investigations, including imaging and endoscopy. Finally, you will learn about the management of conditions such as celiac disease, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and hepatitis, among others.
