Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to recall relevant anatomy and physiology pertaining to the ear and their involvement in clinical examination and therapy. As well, participants will be able to recall the common causes of otalgia (ear pain) and to recognize severe conditions such as malignancy based on the patient’s history and presentation. The participant will also be able to conduct a detailed history focusing on relevant complaints and risk factors for otalgia such as infection and blockage in addition to a focused clinical examination in order to define an appropriate list of differential diagnoses.
